DESCRIPTION:During the event\, EMODnet partners\, data providers and users will connect across stakeholder communities and set goals for the future. To start the week\, the Open Conference will focus on use cases and requirements for developing essential open marine data services for blue economy actors\, the public sector\, civil society and the research community. \nThe EU4OceanObs coordinators of the G7 Future of Seas and Oceans Initiative Coordination Centre and GEO Blue Planet will both be panellists during the EMODnet Global Dialogues Panel session on 15 June.

SUMMARY:UNEP SRI2021: Global Environmental Monitoring Systems/ Oceans
DESCRIPTION:Towards an integrated Global Environment Monitoring System for Oceans – Aspiring to Achieve the Sustainable Development Goal 14: to “Conserve and sustainably use the oceans\, seas and marine resources for sustainable development” \nThe GEMS/Oceans event is a “kick-off” session at the Sustainability Research & Innovation Congress 2021 (SRI2021 – Future Earth) and will discuss and appraise cutting edge approaches for assessing the state of the ocean globally and also offer an opportunity to influence the way forward. As an interactive session it will encourage inputs from its partners\, stakeholders\, and audience\, with the scope to provide a background and conceptual framework for the co-design of a Global Oceans Monitoring System that aims to be innovative and transformational. \nThe speaker line up includes Pierre Bahurel\, representing Mercator Ocean International and the Copernicus Marine Service.
