SUMMARY:7th Argo Science Workshop - October 2022
DESCRIPTION:This international workshop is hosted by Euro-Argo and will take place at the Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences in Brussels\, as a hybrid event with in-person and virtual attendance options. \nThe workshop aims to bring together ocean science research that has employed Argo data and products to further improve our knowledge of the changing oceans and highlight the applications that the new OneArgo array is opening. Through this event\, the organisers want to stimulate research activities that use Argo data\, especially in combination with data from satellites and other in situ ocean observing networks\, and underline the importance of Argo data for operational services\, and for model and satellite validation. \nThe workshop is also meant as an opportunity to widen users’ experience of the Argo community and to welcome new scientists into that community. \nImportant dates\nAbstract submission deadline :  31 May 2022 \nRegistration : July – September 2022 \nFinal Programme: September 2022 \nFor more information\, click here.

DESCRIPTION:The 5th GEO Blue Planet Symposium will take place between 24 and 28 October 2022 in Accra\, Ghana. \nThe symposium will feature Plenary Sessions centered around the GEO Blue Planet Core Action Areas of Stakeholder Engagement\, Cooperation and Co-design and Capacity Development. It will also feature Ocean and Coastal Observations Tutorials\, Thematic Workshops and a highly Interactive Symposium Forum. \nCo-organised by the GEO Blue Planet Secretariat (Mercator Ocean International\, NOAA and the University of Maryland) and the AIR Centre\, this year’s hosts and local organisers are the University of Ghana and University of Energy and Natural Resources in Ghana.  \nMore information visit the Symposium website: symposium.geoblueplanet.org

SUMMARY:EUMETSAT “Supporting Marine Earth Observation Applications”
DESCRIPTION:EUMETSAT and the Oceanography & Earth Observation Group of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens are jointly organising the training course “Supporting Marine Earth Observation Applications (SMA)”. \nThrough this course participants will learn how to independently access and process data from the EUMETSAT product catalogue for their marine workflows and applications. The focus will be on data streams from EUMETSAT Copernicus marine missions (Sentinel-3; Sentinel-6) and derived downstream products\, those derived from Copernicus supporting missions\, and those made available by the Ocean and Sea-Ice Satellite Application Facility (OSI SAF). \nTraining will take place fully online in two phases: \n\nBetween 31 October and 18 November 2022 (9-15 hours) –  self-paced flexible learning through webinars\, forums and technical checks (particularly for software installations)\, documentation and assignments.\nBetween 21 and 25 November 2022 (5-7 hours a day) – virtual classroom via Zoom and other collaborative tools\, made up of interactive tutorials\, live demos\, group work\, and 1:1 meetings.\n\n\n\n\nThis workshop is a technical training event\, designed to increase the ability of all attending to access and use EUMETSAT marine products for their own applications. \n\n\n\nFor more information and to register\, click here.
