SUMMARY:European Green Week 2021
DESCRIPTION:The European Green Week 2021 is dedicated to the European Union’s ‘zero pollution ambition’. It will also look at other relevant European Green Deal initiatives\, such as the climate initiatives\, the upcoming Chemicals Strategy\, as well as initiatives in the fields of energy\, industry\, mobility\, agriculture\, fisheries\, health and biodiversity. \nThe EU Green Week virtual conference will run from 1 to 4 June and includes the following events related to ocean pollution\, ocean plastic\, keeping our seas and oceans healthy and working towards a sustainable blue economy: \n\n2 June\, Session 4.4: Space is the place – monitoring the planet’s health with Copernicus\, including a presentation on “Green deal solutions for combatting ocean pollution with the Copernicus Marine Service”.\n2 June\, Session 2.4: Clean seas with a sustainable blue economy – challenges and opportunities\n2 June\, Session 6.2: Making waves – young people’s views on water pollution\n3 June\, High Level Session: TRAPPED BY PLASTIC Screening of a short documentary followed by a debate on how we can end marine plastic pollution\n\nVisit the EU Green Week virtual conference website for more information. \nTo view the programme\, click here. \nTo register\, click here.

SUMMARY:EU4OceanObs side events at All-Atlantic 2021
DESCRIPTION:EU4OceanObs will co-host 3 side events at the All-Atlantic 2021 conference that will take place from 2 to 4 June 2021. The All-Atlantic 2021 is a Ministerial High-Level & Stakeholders Conference that will take place under the Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the European Union\, in close cooperation with the European Commission\, aiming to strengthen Research & Innovation cooperation across and along the Atlantic Ocean\, from “pole to pole”.  The event will be a step forward in the work developed by the All-Atlantic Ocean Research Alliance\, bringing together Ministries\, high-level representatives and ocean leaders\, including researchers\, youth\, entrepreneurs\, academics\, and civil society. \nThe side events co-organised through the EU4OceanObs actions on the G7 Future of the Seas and Oceans Initiative and GEO Blue Planet will address global ocean data sharing and infrastructures\, and monitoring and managing of marine litter and Sargassum in the Atlantic basin.
